A landmark...

Today is a momentous day for me as this my 1,000th post...

I remember why I started. I was so incensed by the Haiti earthquake and the self righteous, hypocritical missionaries who took the first chance they could to fuck off out on the first plane. So much for the religious doctrine of 'help thy fellow man' - more like 'look after number one'!

In the three plus years that have passed, I have come to the conclusion that, to paraphrase a well known Labour election song, "Things can only get worse".

The economy is in the shit, Gordon sold off all the family jewels, Clegg is a disaster, and Cameron is just plain, simple disappointing - and that's a powerful word. Nobody seems to have a clue what they are doing and nobody cares much anyway. We are as a turd sliding down the toilet bowl of life to a watery grave.

Pensioners are forgotten. Their savings - which we were all told were so important to provide for our old age - produce so little income that it's negligible. Benefits are being attacked. They want to take away winter fuel allowances and bus passes and means-test prescriptions. For anyone over 60, life is shit and guaranteed to get shittier.

I wonder why I bother sometimes. At this point I wonder if I will carry on bothering.

But then again, why should I let the bastards grind me down?
