Really Rotten Boroughs - Suffolk County Council

My regular reader will know that this is not the first time that I have written about the antics of Suffolk County Council's Chief Executive Andrea Hill, but this time it seems that she has really excelled herself...

It has been alledged - note my careful use of the 'alledged' word - that Ms Hill's bullying style of management has led to the suicide of one of her managers. She has been told to remain at home on full pay while an inquiry looks into the death of David White, the acting head of the Tory-run authority’s legal department.

Mr White was found hanged in woods at Butley near Woodbridge, Suffolk, on April 4. The 51-year-old married father had been given the additional responsibility of interim monitoring officer after Eric Whitfield, the officer who previously had the role, suddenly quit.

Ms Hill seems to be rather unlucky with her management team. You might remember my post in December last year regarding Michael Gower who quit his post because 'there is no such thing as a free lunch'. Since then, several other managers have also walked out.

Anyway, the lovely Andrea is on gardening leave whilst this is being looked into - which basically now means that she is being paid her exorbitant salary to sit at home and do sod all, the latest example of a culture in this country that rewards people for failing...

unbelieveable. You know nothing whatsoever about what is happening, but use the suicide of of someone you dont know to make an asinine point. His family will be delighted with your input I am sure. You also appear to believe everything you read in the press, which just goes to show how worthless your comments are.

Anon, note that I did say 'alledged'. What is clear is that this woman is a unaffordable liability. I am sure his family would welcome a full and independent equiry - but I doubt they'll get that.

I have met many 'consultants' over the years. They were all the same - good at doublespeak and bad at man management. I doubt she is any different from what I have heard from people who work at SCC.

Time she went for many reasons, but if this is proven to be her fault, not even her brass neck will save her - and good riddance as far as I can tell!

I have taken the trouble to respond, but I must say I don't have a lot of respect for people who sign themselves 'Anonymous'

I think you mean "alleged".

At the risk of sounding pedantic, the Oxford English Dictionary does allow both spellings...

Dio,

Its easy to spot the petty minded, when ever their argument is lost or total cods wallop they have no real recourse other than to pick holes in others spelling or punctuation.

They can't help it you see, they do this no doubt in the vain hope other readers might think they are hedukated, rather than the retarded amoeboid (pond life) they actually are....

Shades of Marie Mclean at Waveney who allegedly slipped like a bar of soap from her employers grip to allegedly go and f*k up Northampton council (who got rid of her somehow at some expense).

Who in heavens name falls for the alleged crap these people come out with at the interviews when they are selected (or perhaps that is all done by vastly expensive recruitment consultants)
