Over the next three years, we will give £825 million in aid to India.
Let's look at some statistics :
There are 203 recognised sovereign states in the world.
India has the 4th largest economy in terms of purchasing power whereas the UK is 6th.
The Indian economy has grown by 7.2% since the financial crisis, whereas the UK has managed 2.8%.
Economists predict that by 2020, India will be among the leading economies of the world, and they're pretty much on their way there now it seems.
In addition, it seems that India can afford a space program. It currently has 20 nuclear power stations and is building 4 more. It is a member of ITER - the project that is building an experimental fusion reactor. India has nuclear weapons and indigenous sources of uranium.
To sum up, it seems to be doing everything we are doing and in many areas it is doing more and performing better.
So why exactly, Mr. Cameron, are you giving them £825 million of our money when it seems that they ought to be giving it to us?

I would like, if I may (?), to add Merkel to the list of people who should be answering that question.
And do not forget, That is not ALL Britain (or Germany) is giving India. They also recieve "aid" through E.U grants, now where does THAT money come from???
I bet your bottom dollar it is ON TOP of what the individual countries give.
At this time of 20% VAT and cuts with austerity measures thrown in to the mix, how will we ever afford to buy the bankers out of trouble the next time (and it won't be long by all accounts) they screw it all up.
£850,000,000 is a lot of free money for someone, pity it will never get to the poor....
Advanced nuclear and space programs but still the general population of this shit hole (formerly know as Great Britain) continue to support such obscene donations. Presumably they don't mind giving away all their hard earned cash while they struggle to cope with huge rises in fuel costs, for instance.
Oh FFS ... and let's not forget that total bag o' shite know as the Indian call centre!

They appear either not to know, OR not to care. Those that you tell, just act like Frenchmen and nearly take off as they shrug their shoulders.
It makes me wonder just what HAS to happen these days to rile, nit just Brits, we Germans are the same, as are the rest of North Western Europe....except, maybe for France.
@FT
I can't speak for Germany but I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that the majority of the UK population will continue to shrug their shoulders until the government start affecting their beloved X Factor, Eastenders et al. Of course that's never going to happen though because that's just the way that the goverment want things. A general population that is blissfully unaware of what they are really up to ... before it's too bloody late.
*sigh*
Are we giving money to China as well?

I believe so. Yes.

Total official aid to China from all donors (bilateral and multilateral) was $1.5 billion in 2008. The UK was the fourth largest country donor, providing $175 million (13% of country donor aid). By comparison, India received a total of $2.1 billion in 2008, almost half as much again.
From the above link.
India have also recently invested 7 billion on a fleet of nuclear submarines, 5 billion on new surface warships, 3 billion for new naval bases.
They bought and shut down our steelworks and are now one of the leading steel manufacturers in the world. They also transferred 1 billion of carbon credits from the UK steel industry and sell them on as India is exempt from the carbon credit theft.

Dear Dioclese,
If you get an answer from Mr Cameron, will you promise to tell me? I have been trying to figure it out for ages.
Yours,
Billothewisp
The 825 million pounds is probably still less than the interest your country owes India for looting all the riches for 150 years of colonisation.
Most of that money goes to the Christian missionaries which try their best to convert the poor tribal to Christianity. This is probably a political stunt by your government to keep the Christian vote bank happy.
Why is it that whenever crap comments like this are made they are always anonymous?
Without British involvement, Indian woud have been a shithole - although I was there two years ago and come to think of it, it was a shithole
